In its Spring 2019 issue, Popular Science magazine takes a deep dive look at the future of transportation, from flying cars to robot cars and everything in between.

When it comes to driverless cars, the magazine explores the critical question of what it will take for consumers to trust the technology. Two high-profile, fatal crashes last year involving driverless vehicles raised the stakes. A recent survey by AAA found that more than 70 percent of adults remain afraid to ride in a fully self-driving vehicle, up from 63 percent a few months before the crashes.

Writer Rob Verger spoke with Mcity Director Huei Peng about how the Mcity Driverless Shuttle research project is helping us learn more about consumer trust and acceptance of automated vehicles.
