Then and Now: The Future of Moving People and Goods

In 2013 the University of Michigan announced plans to establish a mobility center and test facility to bring together the diverse expertise and resources required to realize the potential of emerging mobility technologies, and their commercial and economic viability. In 2015 the Mcity Test Facility opened and together with the Mcity private-partnership model we established an ideal, real-world environment for learning, innovating and exploring mobility systems and their role in our future communities.

Today our facility is capable of supporting a wide range of queries and exploration, from V2V connectivity and communication technologies like 5G to infrastructure and vehicle safety systems to emerging mobility solutions on land or in air for moving people and goods. The opportunities are limitless.
